Join Age Friendly Sisters Country at The Belfry on Saturday night, April 5, for the annual FREE community singing event featuring Portland's Low Bar Chorale.
We the audience are all lead vocalists, as the band backs us up on popular tunes. Lyrics are broadcast on the Belfry’s walls in case you've forgotten the words to any of the hits. With many fans already in Sisters, the Low Bar Chorale is a combo of talented touring musicians known for bringing strangers together to sing like rock stars, sometimes in three-part harmony.
Age Friendly Sisters Country (AFSC), the event promoter, welcomes folks of all ages to join the chorus. They ask only that you contribute what you can, if you can, at the door to support AFSC’s mission of enhancing livability and accessibility for all ages, promoting good neighborliness, and combating isolation in Sisters Country. For these good causes, AFSC hopes Sisters will turn out on April 5. This town has long been known for our rich musical tradition, and here is a chance for everyone to join the band for one night.
Think about offering a ride to someone who might not venture out after dark otherwise. Promise yourself you will meet at least one new person before you go home. Grab the beverage or food of your choice as offered by The Belfry, and get ready to sing. Stay tuned as we work with local restaurants to offer pre-gig dining incentives.
All ages are welcome and encouraged -- last year we had kids and adults dancing down front! Because people generally sing better standing up, seating will be limited to those who can’t stand for a couple of hours. Don’t worry – the music will lift you up.
Embrace the harmony, make new connections, and let Sisters’ musical tradition unite us all. Belfry doors open at 6pm with singing at 7pm. Don’t miss the chance to lift your spirits and support AFSC, a 501c3 non-profit corporation serving as fiscal sponsor to Action Teams who are out there making things better, for folks of all ages, in Sisters every day.
No admission charge but, if you are able to help, a donation of $20 is much appreciated. Limited seating for the event. Tickets available through Eventbrite:
